Our history
We have been building sports cars in Dortmund for over 20 years. During this time we have had many ups and downs and have experienced a lot. You can find our most important projects here.
founding
In 2001, Jan Fatthauer founded the company 9ff in Dortmund, initially with a business partner.
The original objective was to develop our own tuning parts
for sports cars as well as the design of own car models. The
The focus was mainly on engineering work, with planning
intended to modify vehicles in the workshop to a limited extent.
The main focus was on distributing tuning parts worldwide
and build an international dealer network.
The next step
To improve performance, a new car had to be developed. The idea was to build a mid-engine sports car with a long, slim body similar to a GT1. Based on an accident-damaged 996, the company, which still had 5 employees, built the first GT9 prototype from a tubular space frame and a GRP body.
New building
After the first world records, the rush of orders was so great that the company had to expand. The new building had significantly more space and had 8 lifting platforms. To be more precise, the workshop area was larger than that of the PZ Dortmund, which had also been newly moved into at the same time. From here, with now 15 employees, projects could be implemented even faster.
New beginning
In 2012, the company changed its name and appearance. 9FF Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH became 9FF engineering GmbH
Development
The restructuring has given the company a more diverse focus. The newly founded development department not only develops parts for its own conversions, but also complete engines and even vehicles for other companies.
Internet
Modernization brings digitalization. A new online shop now allows individual parts and merchandise items to be ordered to your home. In addition, the presence in social media was increased, allowing an even larger international target group to be reached.
